Babcock University has taken legal steps against Nigerian streamer and content creator Carter Efe over allegations of certificate forgery after he claimed he graduated from the institution with top honours.
He later shared what he presented as his graduation certificate on X, sparking reactions online.
However, in a statement released on Sunday, Babcock University dismissed the claim, describing the circulating document as false and warning the public against accepting it as genuine.
The university stated that it does not issue honorary certificates for undergraduate academic performance and clarified that it has no academic classification known as “First Class Upper.”
“FRAUD ALERT, Babcock University does not issue ‘Honorary Certificates’ for undergraduate performance and has no classification known as ‘First Class Upper’.
“Any document claiming otherwise is fraudulent and should be disregarded. We urge the public to verify all credentials through the Office of the Registrar,” the institution said.
Babcock University further stated that it would pursue legal action against those responsible for the alleged forgery.
Following the statement, Carter Efe reacted during a livestream, claiming that he heard the university was looking for him.
“I hear say una dey find me. Una no go see me until una pay N100,000 ticket for me. Una no go see me,” he said.
The streamer also announced that he would be visiting Babcock University soon.
